?The Ardennes boar, our emblem, is courageous and tenacious, but it does not get fooled that easily. The people of the Ardennes don?t like being made fun of. ? Like other citizens and local actors of the Meuse valley, the deputy (LR) of the Ardennes Pierre Cordier is back. All gathered this Tuesday, August 3, at the end of the morning, to demand accounts: while it had to inject more than 5 million euros to help revitalize this territory, the State decided to withdraw from the project of establishment of the Mercier cycles in Revin.

The opportunity seemed fine for this city of 6,000 inhabitants, with a high unemployment rate (26%), which once housed the Arthur Martin washing machine factories, before being marked by the industrial crisis. Up to 270 ?100% local? jobs would normally see the light of day from the end of 2021, in order to manufacture 500,000 Mercier bikes per year. The century-old bicycle brand, associated with the heyday of Raymond Poulidor, wants to return to France after having relocated to Asia, while the bicycle market is growing. ?This project ticks all the boxes, on reindustrialisation or ecology?, notes Jean-Marc Seghezzi, CEO of CEMF and cycles Mercier.

Bercy turnaround

On March 15, Jacqueline Gourault, Minister of Territorial Cohesion, went to Revin and confirmed the financial support of the State, which was to exceed 5 million euros, under the Territories of Industry and of the ?brownfields? fund. In all, on a project at a cost estimated between 11 million and 15 million euros, the investment was assured for two thirds by the State and the local communities.

This was counting without Bercy?s turnaround. Wednesday July 28, Jean-Marc Seghezzi receives a negative response from the Public Investment Bank. The next day, the ax falls for good: the prefecture of the Ardennes announces the unexpected withdrawal of the State. ?The State services have identified facts serious enough to consider as liability that it is not possible to commit public money?, announced the prefect, Jean-Sébastien Lamontagne.

?We could have protected ourselves from any public announcement with reinforcement of ministerial presence, when we see the result today? Jean Rottner, president of the Grand-Est region

As he left the official residence of the Brazilian President, who received him with military honors and without a mask, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa wanted to emphasize the positive aspects of relations ?between Portuguese and Brazilians, between Portugal and Brazil? ? always with the concern of minimizing any possible points of divergence.

For the rest, the President acknowledged that such matters were left out of a wide range of files ?where convergence needed to be reached?.

Marcelo had lunch with Bolsonaro at Palácio da Alvorada, in Brasília, the last appointment on the agenda of the four-day visit to Brazil, which coincided with the opening, on Saturday, of the Museum of the Portuguese Language, in São Paulo. During the meeting, he pointed out, “there was a very clear concern to explore all paths, common positions and steps to be taken together”.

“We have a lot to accomplish and to accomplish”, even so, the President of the Republic would affirm, to list, as priority points, the ?strengthening of cooperation relations, the deepening of the economic aspect of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) and the objective of reaching an agreement between the European Union and Mercosur?.

Another of the themes addressed by Marcelo was a possible understanding for reciprocity in the recognition of vaccination against Covid-19.
The pandemic, the Delta variant and the masks

At the press conference that followed the lunch with the host, Marcelo was asked about safety in the face of the number of people without masks, in the Brazilian delegation, indoors. But I didn’t want to “make judgments” about “a host who received in his house”.

?The Portuguese delegation was as it has always been in all official meetings and ceremonies. We did what was expected from the Portuguese side, we don’t have to formulate judgments?, he summed up.

To be defined, in this visit by Marcelo to Brasília, there was also an eventual visit by Jair Bolsonaro to Portugal. The President of the Republic said that he had made, together with the Brazilian President, a review of the situation of the pandemic ?from a Portuguese perspective? ? and collected a similar picture ?from a Brazilian perspective?.

“We were able to give a richer testimony talking about the Delta variant, because we have an overwhelming percentage of cases of Delta variant in Europe, which is not happening in Brazil yet”, he stated.
Previous meetings generated controversy
Also according to Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the meeting with Jair Bolsonaro followed the same script as the entire agenda for this visit to Brazil. The President thus alluded to the meetings he had held in recent days with former presidents Lula da Silva, Michel Temer and Fernando Henrique Cardoso.

The meeting with Lula, in particular, caused some controversy, in a context of growing opposition to the current Brazilian President and the approach of the Brazilian elections of 2022.

Marcelo insisted on the idea that the visit to Brazil had culture ? and not politics ? as a backdrop.

Australia, a country famous for its athletes, literature, cinema, media, wines and joie de vivre, is not, however, the most famous locality when it comes to fashion.

Nicky etSimone Zimmermann – Zimmermann

One can count on the fingers of one hand the number of Australian designers that the dandies and the elegant ones are able to name during a dinner in London, New York or Paris. And that’s one of the reasons Zimmermann’s success is so remarkable.

Founded 30 years ago, the Zimmermann brand began with a simple stand in Paddington, in the bohemian district of Sydney, where energetic student Nicky Zimmermann offered her designs at weekend markets.

Today, Zimmermann owns flagships in London, New York, Beverly Hills and Paris as well as numerous corners in the biggest stores in the world. It is widely distributed online, including on Net-a-Porter and MatchesFashion.

But more than all this, it is the aesthetic that Nicky Zimmermann has managed to bring out that catches the eye: an elegant mixture of carefree exuberance, typical of his country of origin, but also colorful and cheerful prints and graphic-chic swimsuits. The side boho de Paddington still shines, and Zimmermann’s parades have become a staple of the fashion week New York, or at least until the pandemic.

An inveterate traveler, Nicky has not left Australia since her disaster return in March 2020, during global containment. But the brand has not been idle, posting bubbling videos of its parades and opening new boutiques, including one in France, in Cannes, and one in Forte dei Marmi, on the Tuscan coast. In all, the brand already has 42 establishments around the world.

Like all the other boutiques, the one in Cannes was designed by John McQualter. Located at 11 rue des Etats-Unis, this 125 square meter space forms a refreshing lime green setting where you can admire a collection arty provocative collages and sketches, including an ink test by Australian pop artist Richard Larter, famous for his wife Pat’s nude paintings, and pieces by Naata Nungurrayi and Gaetano Pesce.

Recently, the house also unveiled its new cruise collection, called The Postcard, featuring flowy dresses, voluminous skirts and puffed blouses adorned with the new pattern by James Northfield. This artist is responsible for numerous Australian travel posters from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, which have become emblematic.

30 years later, the company remains a family business, although Italian investment fund Style Capital acquired 70% of it at the end of 2020. Nicky’s sister, Simone, is the company’s COO, while Chris Oliver, her husband, is the CEO. The house does not publish its annual results, but last year its valuation was estimated at around $ 250 million.

We exchanged a few words with the beaming Nicky, mother of two teenagers, on a morning video conference from France, as the sun set behind her in Sydney Harbor.

Nicky et Simone Zimmermann – carpenter

FashionNetwork.com: Why open a boutique in Cannes? And why do it now?

Nicky Zimmermann : The first time I saw our store in Paris, I felt an incredible emotion. Such a beautiful shop and such a beautiful location! For an Australian brand, settling in Paris is a dream. But whether in Paris, New York or Sydney, or in vacation destinations, our client loves to travel, just like us. So we like to have shops in town and open satellite shops like the one we have in the Hamptons (East Coast of the United States, note). We have been wholesaling for multi-brand and e-merchants for decades, so we have very precise data as to where our client lives, the places she buys and the products she likes. . This is valuable information for our inaugurations. We know that she likes to go to places like Saint-Tropez, Cannes and Forte dei Marmi, and we accompany her there.

FNW: Do you adapt the stores to specific environments, like Forte dei Marmi, for example?

NZ : Our interior designer John McQualter signs each of our stores. He is a great friend and someone whose work we love enormously. He likes to immerse himself in an environment in a slightly more relaxed way. At Forte dei Marmi, we worked with a local ceramist to add a dimension of closeness and we imported paintings and sculptures that we love from Australia.

Zimmermann

FNW: What is the inspiration for your latest resort collection?

NZ : I really wanted a collection that speaks of the beautiful memories of my childhood vacations, of simple and relaxed moments spent with family. I went back to the 1950s, pulled out pictures of my parents, and looked for artists who were doing tourist photos of Australia. The main works of James Northfield were beautifully simple, with beautiful color holiday posters with a real retro touch.

FNW: How would you define Zimmermann’s DNA?

NZ : I love to create things that make people feel good at their family events, weddings, celebrations, communions? The idea is to create memories.

FNW: Why this obsession with guipure? It is a material traditionally used in Haute Couture.

NZ : I love crafts, and I don’t limit myself. I started watching TV and creating objects at a very young age. As a designer, for me it is impossible to be minimalist. And my team shares this mindset, they create fabric flowers and sew by hand. We love to have a personal touch. That elements flutter around our dresses when those who wear them walk.

FNW: Why have you been so successful abroad when the majority of Australian brands have failed?

NZ : I think there are several reasons why things have worked out well for Zimmermann. I have been fortunate enough to work with my sister Simone from the very beginning. She doesn’t want to be creative. She loves getting things done and she’s an amazing director of operations: she’s very organized, manages human resources and production, and does a huge job. Which means I don’t have to take care of it and that’s great because it’s not my forte. She loves clothes, but she doesn’t want to do my job, which creates a fabulous balance. I couldn’t live without her. As sisters, we have an extremely strong bond. My husband, who is a lawyer, joined the company 15 years ago and brought another range of skills to it.

FNW: Could you one day parade in Paris?

NZ : We would love to parade in Paris and we make some pretty instinctive decisions. I would feel terribly intimidated to present my collections in Paris, even though it is one of my favorite cities in the world. But never say never!

SpaceX plans to raise up to $ 1 billion in a new round of funding. Elon Musk’s private space company is said to aim for a valuation of $ 44 billion.

As part of a Series N financing round, SpaceX plans to raise between $ 500 million and $ 1 billion from investors. Corresponding documents should be available to the US broadcaster CNBC. The space company is said to be valued at $ 44 billion. That would make it one of the most valuable venture capital-funded companies in the United States. At the last round of funding in March 2020, SpaceX was worth $ 36 billion.

SpaceX intends to use the fresh capital to advance the commercial operation of the Starlink satellite Internet service and to finance further space flights. According to CNBC, SpaceX estimates the theoretical market size for its Starlink product at $ 1 trillion. SpaceX could supply any place in the world with high-speed internet via the satellite fleet. There are currently more than 450 Starlink satellites in orbit. SpaceX expects the service to start generating revenue in 2020.

SpaceX: It will take some time before Starlink is profitable

Analysts at investment bank Morgan Stanley estimate that SpaceX will have to spend around $ 50 billion on Starlink by 2032. Only then would the satellite Internet offer really make a profit. If Musk’s plans work, analysts estimate that SpaceX could one day be worth $ 175 billion. In the worst case scenario, the rocket builder’s value could drop to just about $ 200 million.

EIt’s been a good six months since a new wine law was passed in Germany. After years of unsuccessful struggle, the representatives of the winemakers agreed with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture on a new version and thus finally implemented the EU requirements for a new regulation from 2009. Last autumn, the Bundestag and Bundesrat approved.

However, the new regulation did not bring about the hoped-for pacification of the wine industry. On the contrary: the law has been passed, but the winemakers are arguing like tinkers. The German Winegrowing Association (DWV), the highest professional organization, is faced with a pile of broken glass. The cooperatives feel ripped off and have therefore left. The Association of German Prädikatsweingüter (VDP) worries about its large plants and threatens to “disengage from the process”. The question of what quality criteria the newly founded ?protection associations? of winegrowers should use to ensure that the origin profile hoped for by everyone becomes clear in their region harbors considerable potential for controversy.

Winegrowers’ cooperatives do not feel noticed

The high point of the dispute so far: At the end of June, the German Raiffeisen Association (DRV) – the central organization of the cooperatives – announced that it was leaving the German Viticulture Association. In the orientation of the winegrowing association, the cooperative positions have recently played almost no role, says DRV managing director Henning Ehlers of the FAZ. The cooperatives have often been overruled: “We have to accept democratic processes”. The winegrowing association is registered by politicians as the mouthpiece of the entire industry. But if the position of the almost 150 winegrowers’ cooperatives, which after all produced a third of German wine and are the most important supplier to the trade, is no longer perceived, then this is no longer acceptable.

A few days after the cooperative association, the Franconian winegrowing association also sent its notice of termination. The Franconians also feel they are no longer represented by the Viticulture Association, albeit for different reasons. Above all, they are bothered by the planned reallocation of funding: the money from the EU support program – two million euros – is to be used for wine advertising in the future, according to the will of the federal government, in order to stimulate weak exports. Sounds good, but it is not acceptable for the Swiss franc, after all, the EU money could also have been used for investment subsidies and restructuring – that would have benefited the winemakers directly. “We are now lacking export subsidies in the region,” said Hermann Schmitt, Managing Director of the Franconian Viticulture Association of the FAZ. He also criticizes the fact that the German Viticulture Association has not succeeded in preventing the reallocation of structural aid for export advertising despite resolutions to the contrary. The export subsidies are already very high, but exports are still falling. ?We’re talking about profiling the origins and promoting Riesling. That doesn’t go together. “

Two years have passed since 1 August 2019, the date on which the last date of the LauraBiagio Stadi, the tour that for the first time brought together the voice, energy and songs of “the star and the songwriter?, Laura Pausini e Biagio Antonacci.

With a little bit of melancholy he recalled this anniversary on his Instagram page the same Laura which, since then, has not given concerts anymore.

Two years actually where things have happened in the singer’s career …

First of all the release of the song I do (Seen) which led her to win prestigious international awards, including the Golden Globe, and to get a nomination for the Oscar in the Best Original Song category, an event never happened before for a song sung completely in Italian.

And then the filming of a film that sees her as the protagonist, on screen and in history, directed by Ivan Cotroneo and due out in 2022 on Amazon Video. Filming will end in September and from there immediately the tireless Laura Pausini will enter the studio to record his highly anticipated new album also out in 2022.

Only after the release of the album will it be possible to return to thinking about live shows. Also for this reason the melancholy is felt, among the fans and for the artist.

It turns LauraBiagio it was born far from the dynamics of promoting an album. It was an adventure around the Italian stadiums that saw two friends and colleagues sharing music, something that today, in the era of so many duets studied at the table, appears more unique than rare.

The rest Laura e Biagio they are very close. The singer-songwriter was among the first in 1993, after performing on the stage of the Sanremo Festival with Loneliness, to write to Pausini to congratulate.

Years after Biagio would write again a Laura, this time songs. The first in 2000, Between you and the sea, international success which was followed by other beautiful songs such as vivimos e Right side of the heart.

These are the words posted by Pausini its Instagram?

?Cagliari, 1 August 2019.

Two years ago was the last time I sang on stage. With my brother Biagio Antonacci we closed the tour in the stadiums directed by the super Luca Tommasini in Sardinia.
Today we heard and we realized how lucky we had to live our last live experience on a tour like this, which we don’t even need to say is to die for.

Look at the photos and videos of this post (the first is unpublished!) And find our band, our technicians and engineers and all the people who worked on the show. There were also our friends Fiorello and Paola Cortellesi who on this last date became Biagio 2 and Laura 2 singing with us, dressed like us!

Who among you remembers it?
Once again thank you all for what you made us feel, because it was truly, UNRELEASABLE.

Bto, gives 13 years reference event in Italy dedicated to the union between innovation and tourism, change skin and relaunch. In fact, in November Florence will host the Bto week (from 24 to 30/11), a week of unmissable events for those involved in tourism, for passion, for study or for profession. The opening will take place in Hall of the Cinquecento of Palazzo Vecchio while on 25 and 26 it will move to the headquarters of Nana Bianca. Finally, the meetings of 29 and 30 November will take place at the Chamber of Commerce of Florence, a stone’s throw from the Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio.

But the news does not end here. Even the payoff it changes skin to update itself with the times we are living: it becomes Bto ? Be Travel Onlife. “A choice that starts from the awareness that online can no longer be conceived as a separate channel in a hyper-connected world, but as an integral part of our way of being, communicating and interacting with the world of travel – comments the scientific director by Bto2021, Francesco Tapinassi – Among the numerous tools at our disposal, strategy becomes decisive, being (be) more than thinking. Hence the Onlife, that is the ability to adapt and to know how to build a raft while swimming in the current, becomes the key to face the new decade and the complex phase of the management of the pandemic “.

BTO is also innovative in the format. The 2021 edition will in fact be hybrid: Day One in Palazzo Vecchio will be in attendance but will also be broadcast in live streaming. Four thought days will follow “virtual“But also with the possibility”real? For those wishing to come to Florence. Four thematic paths of BTO2021 that will decline the focus on Onlife further 80 appointments and which will each characterize a day of the Bto week: November 25 will be the digital innovation day, on November 26 the destination day, on November 29 the food and wine tourism day, it November 30 thehospitality day.

Like every year, the red thread of the new edition: for the 2021 will be ??New Frictionless World?, literally ?A world without friction?. After the words of Mark Zuckerberg the concept of Frictionless, namely the simplification of the user experience, has become synonymous with facilitation. Simplification is a complex process that requires maximum effort, focusing on the experience of those who will use the platform. Precisely in the tourism sector, in particular the Italian one characterized by a large multiplicity of actors, Frictionless it could indicate a new working method by developing the design, implementation and provision of experiences, travels, offers and packages designed for travelers.
